The city’s compact downtown, historic waterfront, and lively neighbourhoods make it easy for visitors to explore between sessions. Halifax is home to a growing technology and innovation ecosystem, a rich tradition of skilled trades and maritime industries, and an active community of makers, repair cafés, and sustainability-focused organisations.
Late May is an especially welcoming time to visit, with mild weather, longer days, and the city coming alive after winter. Attendees can expect a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, excellent local food and cafés, and easy access to coastal landscapes, historic sites, and cultural venues.
Arriving by Air
Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is the primary airport serving Halifax and Atlantic Canada. The airport offers direct flights to and from major Canadian cities (including Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver) as well as select international and U.S. airports. The airport is located approximately 30-35 minutes from downtown Halifax and Dalhousie University campus.
Ground Transportation from the Airport
Taxis are readily available at the airport and operate on a flat-rate system to downtown Halifax. A taxi ride to Dalhousie University campus or nearby areas typically costs $60-65 CAD and takes around 30 minutes. Ride-hailing services such as Uber are also available from a designated pickup location at the airport and operate throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Halifax Transit also operates the Airport Express Bus (Route 320), which provides direct service between the airport and downtown Halifax. Travel time on the Airport Express is approximately 45-55 minutes, and the route serves major downtown stops nearby to the major hotels.
Hotel Accommodation
The Convention organizing committee is currently finalising a conference group rate with the Cambridge Suites Hotel, located in downtown Halifax. Once confirmed, booking details and the preferred conferred conference rate will be posted here.
Cambridge Suites is a full-service all-suite hotel situated in the heart of downtown, within easy reach of restaurants, cafes, and the Halifax waterfront. The hotel is approximately a 15-minute walk, (or 5 minutes by taxi) from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University.
All rooms are spacious suites, making the hotel well suited for conference attendees who may be staying multiple nights or working during their visit. Amenities include complimentary breakfast, in-room workspaces, and access to meeting and fitness facilities.
Other Options
Halifax offers a wide range of hotels and short-term accommodations in the downtown and South End areas, many within walking distance of transit routes serving Dalhousie University. Attendees are welcome to book accommodations that best suit their preferences and travel plans.
